Indian Flag Car

Indian Flag Car 1
Here's the INDIAN FLAG CAR. The Indian Formula One Racing team Force India, while yet to get of the bottom of the pile, came close to winning their first F1 points in Shanghai last week. The team sports the Indian flag as its team colors and has attracted sponsorship from Indian companies Kingfisher, ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries and Kanyan Capital. Force India was formed after Indian businessmen Vijay Mallya and Michiel Mol bought the Spyker F1 team for US$115 million. The team races its own designed cars, powered by Mercedes-Benz, and was able to rise from 18th to as high as sixth with just 5 laps to go.

With Delhi being added to the Grand Prix circuit in 2011, Force India are learning and may well be a team to reckon with by the time the Delhi Grand Prix arrives. The team has just signed a five year agreement with Mercedes for engines, and a partisan Indian crowd in Delhi may make a large impact at the event.

The participation in, and rise to prominence of an Indian team in F1 is in marked contrast to China, which despite having hosted the F1 in Shanghai for the past few years, does not field a competing team. This is somewhat surprising, given that both China and India are poised to be the world’s largest auto markets in the next two to three years, with more vehicles having been sold last year in China than in the United States for the first time. The Chinese logic for hosting the event, but not participating, seems a little skewed. The Chinese government pays Formula One about US$50million each year to host the Shanghai event, yet the country has not followed that up with a competing presence, cars or drivers, in the rest of the series. The prices to attend the Shanghai event also seem bizarre if China wants to use it to promote its auto industry.

Shanghai wages averaging at about US$500 a month, that’s equivalent to the price of the cheapest ticket on offer for the Shanghai F1. You would need to charge US$4,000 to attend the Indianapolis 500 in the United States to achieve a similar disparity. So while Force India prepares the world for Indian cars and trucks Tata having already acquired global brands Jaguar and Land Rover, and about to launch Tata as a brand name in Europe and the United States through the Nano and its trucking division – the Chinese are just not getting on board. It’s a curious state of affairs, especially since F1 have apparently re-signed with Shanghai to host the event for another seven years. US$50 million seems a lot to pay for a one off annual event that the local Chinese cannot generally afford to attend, in which no Chinese team participates, in a 17 race series which is broadcast globally and attracts hundreds of millions of viewers.

Force India meanwhile are pushing forward at the top end the concept of Indian vehicles as reliable, and developing India as a manufacturing brand in auto that will assist its national auto manufacturers integrate into and penetrate international markets.

Bentley Future International Design

Bentley Future International Design
Some of the world’s best young designers from London’s Royal College of Art (RCA) have created a series of remarkable ‘Bentleys of the Future’ designs in a unique partnership with the famous British company. Eighteen Vehicle Design Course Masters students have spent the last few months studying the work of Bentley’s leading designers, including Head of Exterior Design Raul Pires who played a key role designing the company’s new Mulsanne flagship.

Drawing on Bentley’s proud design heritage. they have sought to develop a range of striking and futuristic car designs. Now four of the RCA students have been shortlisted to refine their designs with Pires and his colleagues with a winner and runner-up both being invited to join the Crewe-based company for a six month secondment in the Bentley design studio. A key part of the project has been the ability to combine strong visual design with the latest automotive software. Each car design  has undergone extensive testing in a virtual wind tunnel to assess and enhance its aerodynamic capabilities.

Bentley Continental Series 51 Range

Bentley Continental Series 51 Range
The Series 51 Continental models represent Bentley exterior and interior styling at its most vibrant and will enable customers to order ‘off the peg' from an exclusive range created by Dirk van Braeckel's renowned team of Crewe-based designers.

Every Series 51  car will feature a highly-distinctive interior colour palette and unique exterior design cues.Bentley's Colour and Trim team, managed by Melinda - June Jenkins, have designed some bespoke three-tone interiors which demonstrate the full potential of leather hide colours and showcase the creative application of contrast stitching and piping. The first example of their work will be the Continental GTC displayed at Frankfurt which features Imperial Blue as a main and secondary hide, Linen seat and door inserts and Newmarket Tan as the accent colour.Series 51 cars will also feature several unique interior details including the use of non-indented hide for diamond quilting, contrast piping for the seats and doors as well as bespoke Series 51 treadplates.

Bentley's designers have selected a range of premium-quality materials for the dashboard and centre console to complement the three-tone interiors. The Dark and Bright ‘Engine Spin' aluminium options provide a striking contrast with darker and lighter hide colour choices and a special, limited-edition Amboyna veneer reserved for Series 51 . Both the Continental GT and GTC offer a powerful road presence and the Series 51  cars further accentuate these sporting credentials with some eye-catching exterior styling.  A 20” 14-spoke polished Diamond wheel with a dark centre cap provides Series 51  cars with a purposeful and stylish appearance. The cars will be further distinguished by a signature ‘51' badge on the front wings.

To further enhance and personalise the Continental GT a new two-tone paint can be commissioned which complements the contrasting interior configuration. This highly distinctive colour split (with one colour running over the bonnet, roof and flowing down to the boot) is a classic design used on many sporting Bentleys of the past.

Bentley Continental GT Speed

Bentley Continental GT Speed
The Continental GT Speed is the most powerful production Bentley ever and the first to top 200mph (322km/h). A potent addition to the company’s highly successful Continental series, the GT Speed extends the appeal of the Continental GT coupe to driving enthusiasts who place a high value on outright performance and agile handling. The exterior style of the new Continental GT and GT Speed models is defined by a wider, lower air intake and more upright radiator grille that also provide increased airflow to the more powerful GT Speed. Its 600bhp (610PS) W12 engine develops 15 percent more torque and nine percent more power than the standard Continental GT, while engine efficiency is optimised by the use of lower friction, lighter-weight components and a new engine management system.

The resultant performance is exceptional, with a top speed of 202mph (326km/h), a zero to 60mph sprint time of just 4.3 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.5s) and effortless overtaking capability. Both the GT Speed and the 552bhp (560PS) Continental GT benefit from internal efficiency improvements to deliver reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The Continental GT remains outstandingly quick its top speed is unchanged at 198mph (318km/h), with a 0-60mph sprint time of 4.6 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.8s). At the heart of both Continental GT models is the Bentley 6-litre, twin turbocharged W12 engine, the most compact 12-cylinder engine in production. The 48-valve head employs four camshafts and continually variable valve-timing. Power is transmitted via a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. For the Continental GT, the engine continues to produce 552bhp (560PS / 412kW) at 6100 rev/min and a maximum torque of 650Nm (479lb ft) from1600 rev/min.

The twin, low-inertia turbochargers are a key factor in producing the flat torque curve, characteristic of every Bentley. A new higher output of the W12 engine is specified for the GT Speed, sharing engine efficiency improvements with the GT model. New lighter weight con rods enhance engine response, while new pistons, with anodised compression ring grooves, are designed to withstand increased cylinder pressures. Together with a recalibrated version of the new engine management system, the GT Speed develops nine percent more power than the GT - 600bhp (610PS) at 6000 rev/min. The maximum torque of 750Nm (553lb ft) at 1750 rev/min represents an increase of over 15 percent versus the standard engine. As a result, the GT Speed becomes the first production Bentley to top 200mph (322km/h), with a V-max of 202mph (326km/h). The lightweight, fade-resistant braking system minimises disc distortion under high thermal conditions. Under normal driving conditions the brake discs will last the lifetime of the car. Furthermore, brake pad life is doubled compared with the standard braking system. Complementing the braking systems of both Continental GT models are sophisticated safety systems, including Hydraulic Braking Assistance (HBA), anti-lock braking (ABS), drag torque control (MSR) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). This Bentley features single tone, hide-trimmed multi-function steering wheel in a 4-spoke design,Footpedal with Bentley ‘B’ emblem, Hide and chrome trimmed gear lever with manual shift change facility.

Bentley Arnage Final Series

Bentley Arnage Final Series
Bentley is giving farewell to Arnage, 10 years after its original debut in 1998. The final series Arnage will end with an exclusive 150 production cars. In 1999 the V8 engine was introduced into the Arnage, codenamed “F1”, with a single turbocharger, developing 400bhp/298kW and 616 lb ft/835 Nm of torque. This was followed in 2002 by the “F6” version featuring twin turbochargers, boosting power to 450bhp/336kW with 645 lb ft/875 Nm of torque.

The iPod interface links to the Infotainment system and enables customers to play their favourite music through the car’s audio system.  Supplied with connectors for iPod, USB, Mini USB and a 3.5mm AUX jack.  Includes a 12 volt power outlet for charging purposes. The Bentley Arnage Final Series features rear remote control  enables the rear seat passengers to control the infotainment system.  When not in use it can be stored in a dedicated pouch inside the rear centre armrest.

The Naim for Bentley is a world class audio system delivers the world’s best in-car sound stage.  Created in partnership with Bentley by Naim Audio, a UK-based high end hi-fi manufacturer, this system features 10 speakers, a dual channel sub-woofer and a 1100 watt amplifier the world’s most powerful production unit fitted in a car.  Bentley is also the first car manufacturer to use a next-generation Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in its audio system which features eight individual modes to reproduce true emotions and a ‘live’ concert-like experience. The engine, transmission, chassis and running gear of the Arnage Final Series are identical to those previously employed in Arnage T.  In this specification, Bentley’s remarkable all-aluminium 6 ¾ litre V8 engine produces 500 bhp (507PS/373kW) and 1000 Nm (738lb ft) of torque – figures that ensure that the legendary Bentley ‘wave of torque’ delivers effortless performance for a unique driving experience. Acceleration to 60 mph is accomplished in 5.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.5 secs) with 100 mph reached in 12.1 seconds (0-160km/h in 12.0 seconds). Top speed of the Final Series is 179 mph / 288 km/h.  Each V8 engine bears the signature of the team leader. The six-speed ZF automatic transmission, first introduced for the 2007 model, ensures optimum flexibility, response and refinement. Three transmission modes (Drive, Sport and Semi-Automatic) allow the driver to take full advantage of the powerful 500 bhp V8 engine.  the Arnage with impressive body control in all driving conditions, while the new five-spoke, two-piece 8.5J x 20-inch Sports alloy wheels with 255/40 ZR20 Pirelli P Zero tyres originally developed for the Brooklands coupe – aid handling and road holding. The V8 engine underwent perhaps its most extensive development in 2006 taking power to 500 bhp and torque to 1000 Nm. The introduction of two low-inertia, quick-reacting turbochargers that operate with far greater efficiency at lower engine speeds, reach maximum turbine speed in half the time of the previous units.

Street Legal Batmobile Replica

Street Legal Batmobile Replica
Perhaps the second best-known Batmobile after George Barris' iconic 1966 Lincoln Futura conversion from the Batman TV series is the Anton Furst Batmobile from Tim Burton's 1989 Batman and 1992 Batman Returns films. We found a rather convincing replica of that car for sale on eBay.

Not only is this example of the 1990s Batmobile nice-looking, it's also street legal at least in the State of Ohio where the seller is based. The Bat-winged replica was built by a company named "Putsch Racing" and it makes use of a tube frame chassis with a Corvette drive-train and an independent suspension.

It comes equipped with a canopy that opens and is fitted with various gizmos including retractable machine guns that fire blanks. Hit the jump for more photos and videos of the car in motion.

Audi A9 Concept

Audi A9 Concept 1
This is the A9 sports sedan study, a look at BMW's Vision concept through Audi's eyes (unofficially of course) that was created by independent designer Daniel Garcia from Spain. Just as BMW tried to invent a new market with its 5-Series GT, the Audi A9 would aim to be in a league of its own: over-styled (in a good way) über-luxury hybrid sports saloons. A technologically-advanced Panamera killer. Garcia says some of the lines were inspired by architect Santiago Calatrava's buildings in Valencia. As for that opaque front wind-ceiling, it's made of "as-yet undiscovered nanotechnology material" that can fix itself and be color/tint adjusted. By the time a market for something like this existed, it's very likely that Audi could have the gasoline engine / in-wheel electric motors Garcia is suggesting. The only thing I'd rectify is that Insight-y front end.

2011 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3

2011 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3
The extra special Mercedes Benz SLS AMG will make its race track debut in 2011. The Car features clean design and breathtaking form of the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 race car boasts a new front skirt with enlarged air intakes. The wide opening beneath the characteristic radiator grill bearing the large Mercedes star and the wing shaped horizontal fins supplies air to the engine oil cooler and brake discs. The same function is served by the two intakes below the vertical bi-xenon headlamps. Downforce on the front axle is provided courtesy of four externally mounted side flics, as well as a carbon front splitter; it runs directly into the smooth underbody panel. The hood features a central opening for the extraction of heat from the engine, while side openings in the front fenders facilitate air flow through the wheel arches. The fenders have been widened front and rear to accommodate the large racing tires with a breadth of 78.3 inches, the GT3 bodyshell is a good 2 inches wider than the series production Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The new sills feature openings for cooling the rear brakes, with the smooth underbody visible along the underside of the sills. The 31.7 gallon fuel tank is located centrally behind the driver. The AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine is virtually identical to that of the series production vehicle. Due to its low weight, the acceleration figures for the GT3  3.7 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 60 mph. Depending on gear ratio, the top speed is more than 186 mph. The AMG 6.3 liter V8 engine uses dry sump lubrication in the racing vehicle, too. All four corners feature brake discs in motorsport-tested composite technology. Gray cast iron axial and radial floating discs are fixed to an aluminum hat via stainless steel composite elements. This sophisticated technology enables perfect heat dissipation and thus reliable stability. The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 is also equipped with precisely calculated cooling channels openings in the front skirt and ahead of the rear wheels direct cool airflow over the brake discs. All four brake discs are ventilated, slotted and drilled. Six pot fixed calipers on the front axle and four pot fixed calipers at the rear, with the AMG logo in white, provide plenty of brake pad surface. An anti-lock brake system with special race track settings is fitted as standard. A steering wheel with a diameter of 13 inches facilitates perfect vehicle control. On opening the gullwing doors, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 displays a functional interior with a distinctly race car feel.

Lotus Elise R

Lotus Elise R

The Lotus Elise is a two seat, rear-wheel drive, mid-engined roadster  conceived in early 1994 and released in September 1996 by the English manufacturer Lotus Cars. The roadster is capable of speeds up to 240 km/h (150 mph).  The Elise was named after Elisa, the granddaughter of Romano Artioli who was chairman of Lotus at the time of the car's launch. Two more track-focused models, the 135R and Sport 190 were available with 135 bhp (101 kW; 137 PS) and 192 bhp (143 kW; 195 PS) respectively. These also came with associated handling upgrades such as Lotus Sport Suspension and wider wheels with Yokohama Advan A048 tyres. In certain markets, the 135R was replaced by the "Sport 111", which was similar, apart from sporting the 156 bhp (116 kW; 158 PS) VVC engine in place of the 135 bhp (101 kW; 137 PS) tuned K-series.

Pagani Zonda R

Pagani Zonda R

While we certainly cannot say the Zonda F lacks performance figures, driving around the Nürburgring in 7:32 and achieving lateral G forces of almost 1.5 G, it is however a road car, easy to drive, intuitive and setting the benchmark for comfort, safety and lightweight. In September 2006 the first drawings were ready, but it was crucial to have the support of Mercedes-AMG for a high revving engine with a power output of 750hp, dry sump, light and with a low centre of gravity. The wheelbase has grown by 47mm, the overall length by 394 mm and the track is increased by 50mm.This self-supporting engine with 750 hp at 8000 rpm and 710 Nm of torque carries a lightweight carbon fibre highperformance intake system, a racing multiple disc sintered clutch and Formula 1 style exhaust system, hydroformed in Inconel 625 and ceramic coated for optimal heat dissipation.

The 5.0-liter engine also will continue to be highlighted in the Mustang Boss 302R running in the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race series.Available in only two models originally, the 1964 ½ as it was dubbed, came as either a coupe or a convertible. Both of these models showcased a lengthened hood, a shortened rear deck, chrome grille with a running horse, full wheel covers and chrome wrap-around bumpers. A characteristic standard on the Mustang for years was the three taillights on both sides.  Three-speed automatic was optional, while four-speed manual transmissions were standard behind all engines. The 2.8-liter V6 and the 5.0-liter V8 were both deleted from the line, while the only six available was the pathetic 3.3-liter straight six.

Audi TTS Coupe

Audi TTS Coupe

The Audi TTS Coupe, both in Coupé and Roadster body styles, combines enthralling sportiness with cultivated comfort. Its two-liter TFSI with the large turbocharger and numerous additional modifications pumps out 200 kW (272 hp) and 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) of torque, the latter from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. With the optional six-speed S tronic, the Audi TTS Coupé sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 5.2 seconds and accelerates all the way to an electronically governed top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). The Audi TTS Coupe with the S tronic consumes an average of only 7.7 liters of fuel per 100 km (30.55 US mpg).

18-inch wheels with 245/40-series tires, the Audi magnetic ride adaptive shock absorber system, the Sport button and a powerful brake system with four internally ventilated discs make the Audi TTS Coupe extremely dynamic. The body, which has been lowered 10 millimeters (0.39 in) versus the volume model, was given a series of design updates. It extends automatically at 120 km/h (74.56 mph) and retracts again below 80 km/h (49.71 mph). The driver can also activate it at any time via a switch.

Audi TTS Coupe underbody is nearly completely smooth, which improves the flow of air around the car. Both body styles have grown 9 millimeters (0.35 in) and now measure 4,187 millimeters (13.74 ft) in length. The width of 1,842 millimeters (6.04 ft) and the height of 1,352 millimeters (4.44 ft) and 1,357 millimeters (4.45 ft) for the Coupé and Roadster, respectively, remain unchanged. The wheelbase measures 2,468 millimeters (8.10 ft).
