Considered by many enthusiasts as the ultimate modern Ferrari, the limited-edition Enzo’s replacement will be a tough act to follow up for the Italian automaker. The second-generation Enzo, also named after the marque’s illustrious founder, promises to take performance – and, surprisingly, efficiency – to a new level.
Like the original Enzo, the car’s successor will be a range-topping supercar aimed at immortalizing the legendary founder of the brand. Available only to select current Ferrari owners, the next-generation Enzo will serve as the brand’s performance and technology showcase.
Based – at least in concept – on the Ferrari Millechili show car (though the production Enzo replacement won’t carry that name), the performance car will be loaded with the technology learned from years of Formula 1 experience.
Expected to be powered by a mid-mounted V8 engine, rather than the Maserati-based V12 that motivated the Enzo, power should easily exceed 700 horsepower. Though fuel efficiency is hardly a Ferrari selling point, the car must conform to more recent European Union standards, meaning a new emphasis has been placed on reducing consumption. It has been rumored that Ferrari will use twin-turbocharging to make the most out of a smaller-displacement (think under 6 liters) V8 engine.
Key to addressing the fuel economy issue is a significant weight and size reduction, which should bring the car well down from the just-over 3,000 lbs. of its predecessor; rumors out of Ferrari’s Maranello headquarters indicate that weight could approach 2,200 lbs. Improved aerodynamics, including adjustable front and rear spoilers, will not only help the new Enzo stick to the road at maximum speeds, but it will also ensure reduced fuel consumption.
Its platform could go one of two ways: Either a heavily-modified version of the FXX race car’s architecture – itself a variation of the road-going Enzo – or a slightly longer derivative of the F430’s aluminum space frame.
Production will probably be at least as limited as the original Enzo, meaning no more than 400 of the 1 million Euro-plus supercars will emerge from Maranello when it goes on sale in over a year’s time.

The new model is a synthesis of style, creative flair, passion and cutting-edge technology, characteristics for which Italy as a nation is well-known. For this reason Ferrari chose to add the name of its homeland to the traditional figure representing the displacement and number of cylinders. The Ferrari 458 Italia is a completely new car from every point of view: engine, design, aerodynamics, handling, instrumentation and ergonomics, just to name a few. A two-seater berlinetta, the Ferrari 458 Italia, as is now traditional for all Ferrari’s road-going cars, benefits hugely from the company’s Formula 1 experience. This is particularly evident in the speed and precision with which the car responds to driver inputs and in the attention focused on reducing internal friction in the engine for lower fuel consumption than the F430, despite the fact that both overall displacement and power have increased. However, Ferrari’s track experience makes its presence felt in the 458 Italia not only in terms of pure technological transfer but also on a more emotional level, because of the strong emphasis on creating an almost symbiotic relationship between driver and car. The 458 Italia features an innovative driving environment with a new kind of steering wheel and dashboard that is the direct result of racing practice. The Ferrari 458 Italia has a compact, aerodynamic shape, underscoring the concepts of simplicity, efficiency and lightness that inspired the project. As with every Ferrari, the car’s styling has been very heavily influenced by the requirements for aerodynamic efficiency, as can be seen from the downforce of 140 kg at 200km/h generated by the new model. The front features a single opening for the front grille and side air intakes, with aerodynamic sections and profiles designed to direct air to the coolant radiators and the new flat underbody. The nose also sports small aeroelastic winglets which generate downforce and, as speed rises, deform to reduce the section of the radiator inlets and cut drag. The new 4499 cc V8 is the first Ferrari direct injection engine to be mid-rear mounted. It has a very low piston compression height typical of racing engines which contributed to achieving its compression ratio of 12.5:1. Equipped with the traditional flat-plane crankshaft, the engine delivers 570 CV at 9000 rpm and, with an outstanding power output of 127 CV/litre, sets a new benchmark not only for the whole Ferrari range and the history of company, but also for the entire market segment. Maximum torque is 540 Nm at 6000 rpm, over 80 per cent of which is available from 3250 rpm. Specific torque is a record 120 Nm/litre. The engineers have developed specific, sportier gear ratios to match the power and torque curves of the new V8, guaranteeing high torque even at lower engine speeds and allowing the car to reach its maximum speed in top gear.The Ferrari 458 Italia produces just 320 g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption is 13.7 l/100 km (combined cycle), the best in the entire segment. The Ferrari 458 Italia has a dry weight of 1380 kg with a power-to-weight ratio of 2.42 kg/CV. Weight distribution is also optimal with 58 per cent over the rear axle. The result of the engineers’ endeavours can be summed up in to two simple statistics which together perfectly encapsulate the Ferrari 458 Italia’s exceptional performance: 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed in excess of 325 km/h. The brakes also feature a prefill function whereby the pistons in the callipers move the pads into contact with the discs on lift off to minimise delay in the brakes being applied. This combined with the ABS has cut the 100-0 km/h braking distance to a mere 32.5 metres.

Rinspeed’s creation is based on the Abarth version of the Fiat 500. Its name ‘E2’ signals the fact that the nimble little Italian car is equipped with two different power levels. In this mode the ‘E2’ consumes just some four liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. Based on the Fiat 500 Abarth that has been modified, Rinspeed E2 concept offer two levels of fuel consumption with its two levels of power. Two power levels of Rinspeed E2 concept will be at 60 or 160 hp, that can be switched with pressing a button only. Rinspeed E2 concept needs seven liters of fuel for 100 km in Highway mode (160 hp). While in Commuting mode (60 hp), it needs four liters for the same distance.

The Lamborghini is the Italian prestigious brand. The last model of this brand is named Lamborghini Reventon. This supercar is powered by a V12 engine which produces 650 BHP. The top speed is 211 MPH and it can reach 62 MPH in only 3.4 seconds. But this supercar is not only very powerful. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR is a colourful exception in the racing history of the brand..Almost untouched, though fine-honed for the special requirements of, for instance, the two Italian races, was the W 196 R's wheel suspension with double wishbones at the front and a swing axle at the rear. The lavishly ramified space frame of the sports car, 60 kilograms light, had, by contrast, been derived from the 300 SL of 1952, a latticework of tubes 25 millimetres in diameter and one millimetre in wall thickness, above all along the sides below the doors, and with stronger braces in the area of the suspension.The recommended engine speed, output and tank size changed according to the characteristics of the forthcoming race, from a sprint event such as the Eifel race on the Nürburgring over 228.1 kilometres to a marathon like Le Mans. Lamborghini Embolado Concept
For those who feel Lamborghini’s styling has been severely soften the impact of parent company Audi. The Lamborghini Embolado concept shows a possible design direction that is anything, but soft. The only problem is it is not official.
Created by Italian design student Luca Serafini. The idea of the Embolado came from the Spanish festival Toro Embolado. The bull is the set free in the streets at night.
“The choice of the name was the first step towards the creation of this concept,” says Serafini. He even created a beautiful version of the car with similar styling cues to the recently released Gallardo.

1989 Audi V8L quattro

Quattro (meaning four in Italian) is the name used by Audi AG to indicate that four-wheel drive (4WD) technologies or systems are used on specific models of the Audi automobiles.The Audi V8L quattro made by Audi AG of germany in 1989 and was the first Audi to use its namesake engine configuration. History Although the vehicle was based on VW/Audi's existing C3 platform (namely the 100/200 sedan), the V8 model featured standard quattro all-wheel drive and a 32 valve, DOHC V8 engine with either a five-speed manual or four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, giving it the power and road-holding ability to match the V8 powered offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The V8 closely resembled the 100 and 200 models, although a unique grill design, extended wheelbase, pronounced wheel arches and larger wheels helped distinguish it. Much attention was lavished on the vehicle's new engine, although the V8 was also significant in that it was the first production Audi to combine the quattro system with an automatic transmission. The 3.6 L (3562 cc) powerplant was essentially two four-cylinder engines which had been mated at the crankshaft to form a V8. In this case it was the Volkswagen Golf GTI's 1.8 L, twin cam, 16-valve inline 4-cylinder that provided the starting point. Power output was very strong for the day, with 250 PS (184 kW/247 hp) and 340 N·m (251 ft·lbf) of torque available over a fairly wide powerband. Audi introduced a long wheelbase version in 1990 and in 1991 made a 4.2 L (4172 cc) powerplant with 280 PS (206 kW/276 hp) and 400 N·m (295 ft·lbf) available. Like the base model, it had standard quattro and an optional automatic transmission, but a six-speed manual gearbox replaced the 5-speed of the 3.6 model. The car's base price in 1994, its final year of production, was US$58,700. Motorsport Audi developed a Group A competition version of the V8 for entry into the DTM (German Touring car Championship) and began racing with it in 1990 with Schmidt Motorsport running the operation and Hans-Joachim Stuck, Walter Rohrl and Frank Jelinski driving. Stuck won the title, and the following year Audi added a second team to the mix, Audi Zentrum Reutlingen. SMS continued with Stuck and Jelinski, while AZR raced with Frank Biela and Hubert Haupt. Biela gave Audi another crown in 1991, but was unable to defend the title in 1992. After that season, the DTM organizers deemed the V8's crankshaft illegal and Audi retired from the championship.
2006 Aston Martin DBS

Aston Martin has unveiled the new DBS which will be driven by James Bond, the legendary British secret agent, in the next 007 film, 'CASINO ROYALE', to be produced by Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions. In true Bond style, specific details of the new DBS remain top secret, although Aston Martin Design Director, Marek Reichman, said: 'This car encapsulates a link between our elegant DB9 road car and the powerful DBR9 race car. It signals an evolutionary development of Aston Martin's world renowned style and elegance. 'While hinting at our future design direction, the DBS also has very clear links with our heritage – it is instantly recognisable as an Aston Martin.' Aston Martin Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ulrich Bez added: 'The DBS continues our proud and lengthy association with James Bond. 'The DBS is not of the understated elegance of a DB9, nor the youthful agility of the V8 Vantage. It is explosive power in a black tie and has its own unique character which will equal that of James Bond.' Starring Daniel Craig as James Bond, 'CASINO ROYALE' is scheduled for release in November, 2006. The DBS was intended as the successor to the Aston Martin DB6, although the two ran concurrently for three years. Powered by a straight-6 engine, it was produced from 1967 until 1972, eventually being phased out in favour of the DBS V8 and the Aston Martin Vantage. It was a larger coupé than the DB6, with four full sized seats, but was powered by the same 4.0 L engine as the previous car. The engine normally produced 282 bhp (210 kW; 286 PS), but a no-cost vantage spec engine option substituted Italian made Weber carburettors for the DBS' original SU units, thereby upping output to an advertised 325 bhp (242 kW; 330 PS). The DBS was intended to have a more "modern" look than the previous series of Aston models (the DB4 through DB6), and it incorporated a fastback style rear end and squared off front grille, atypical of Astons, but very much then in vogue in automotive design circles of the late sixties. Trademark Aston design features, such as a bonnet scoop, knock off wire wheels, and side air vents with stainless steel brightwork were however retained.

2004 Aston Martin Vanquish Bertone Jet 2

A 'custom-built' vehicle in a 'made-to-measure' suit by a great tailor based on a production vehicle of great prestige. This, very briefly, is the Bertone Jet 2 (the name is a tribute to the Aston Martin Jet created by Nuccio Bertone in 1961, based on the Aston Martin DB4 GT as a one-off). A Concept car developed from the Aston Martin Vanquish, the Bertone Jet 2 has the same mechanical lay out, the floorpan structure (the wheel base has been lengthened by 210 mm. to allow two rear seats to be added to the original version) and all the BIW elements 'under the skin' to limit investments and not alter the elements which are subject to homologation. Bertone Jet 2 expresses the concept of a modern 'custom-built' car. In other words a vehicle which, on the basis of a non-perceptible carry over nucleus, is characterized by a completely new body. In this sense the Bertone Jet 2 re-proposes, in modern terms, a product linked to the traditional history of Italian coachbuilders which dressed the most enchanting engines of the time in 'haute couture'. In recent years, the public has determined a marked division of the market in niche products. This diversification in demand entails massive economic investments for the manufacturers. The Bertone Jet 2 is an example of how Bertone could help the manufacturers to diversify their own range by preparing 'custom-built' vehicles, exactly as they did in the fifties and sixties, with all the quality and safety standards of a modern automobile manufacturer. The proposal expressed by the Bertone Jet 2 has been made sustainable from the manufacturer's point of view, thanks to a maximum synergy with the components of the original model. From the engineering point of view, Bertone has respected all the structural limits of the original vehicle, the modification of which would have entailed high levels of investment (which would not have allowed to contain the price difference of the custom-built vehicle). At the same time, the finished vehicle is characterized by a specific identity which is so strong that it can be presented as a new model. To the hypothetical final customer, the decision to work with limited investments could translate into a reasonable price increase, to justify the possession of an exclusive object, a vehicle for a few refined connoisseurs. The point of departure for the styling definition was the search of a Bertone identity with respect to the classic Aston Martin features. The car body, originating from sinuous lines and tight 'geometrical' features, is a synthesis of the two brand identities. The flowing shape follows a forward leaning belt line which rises towards the tail; a graphical treatment which enhances the physical power of the Bertone Jet 2 through flowing and natural phrasing. The idea of movement is resumed by a large transparent roof, which emphasizes the dynamism and the impetus of the vehicle. In the front part the classic Aston Martin grille remains, with additional air ducts to cool the disc brakes. The flush cover headlights propose an evolved graphic with respect to the original model. The rear view focuses on the vertical tailgate, the outline of which repeats the shape of the Aston Martin grille. The Bertone Jet 2 presents the classic interior configuration of the 2+2 coupé, made possible by a sizeable increase in the wheelbase with respect to the original model. The real flexibility of use of the 'grand tourer' is expressed also by means of fitting solutions such as the two rear seats, which fold and store away in the floor, to make way for an exceptional loading space for a vehicle of this category. The finishing in matt pear-wood, satinized aluminium trim with upholstery in leather, embossed using an innovative procedure, are a tribute to the luxurious Italian motorboats of the fifties and sixties, but also an ironical wink to the hypothetical customer of this kind of vehicle, who is used to surround himself with precious materials.

1988 Aston-Martin V8 Vantage Zagato
When Aston Martin needed a competitive version of their GT racer, the DB4 GT, they turned to Zagato. The Italian coach builder specialized in constructing light weight, slippery bodies, ideally suited for racing needs. Although the finished product was not the competition success hoped for, its rarity and stunning looks have made the DB4 GT Zagato one of the most sought after Aston Martin models. Some twenty years later Aston Martin and Zagato teamed up once again to relive the success had with the DB4. The plan was to build a limited edition Zagato bodied version of the V8 Vantage model.

1988 Aston Martin V8 Volante

This Aston Martin V-8 Volante is powered by a V8 engine that displaces 5340cc and has a light alloy block, a fuel injection system, and dual overhead camshafts. There is a Torqueflite automatic transmission and four-wheel fully independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. The V-8 Series was introduced in 1972 as a replacement for the mechanically identical DBS V8. The Aston Martin V8 would be the final model development during the David Brown era, and it would become their longest running model in their history. These were functional vehicles that had seating for four and a top speed in the neighborhood of 160 miles per hour. The design was courtesy of designer William Towns and based upon his designs for the original DBS. The engine was by Aston's legendary Tadek Marek and available in 1986 for the first time with Weber Marelli fuel injection. This V8 Volante is part of the final iteration of the V8 series, available in the United States until 1989. It is one of only about 65 Aston Martins of all types sold in the United States for 1988. It has had only three owners since new and been driven a mere 11,000 documented miles. It is finished in Dover White with an Oxblood Connolly leather interior with white piping, black Wilton wool carpeting and burr walnut trim. There is a correct Everflex convertible top that has been recently fitted to the car. In 2009, this 1988 Aston Martin V8 Volante was offered for sale at the Automobiles of Amelia Island Auction presented by RM Auctions. It was estimated to sell for $70,000-$90,000. As bidding came to a close, the lot had been sold for $49,500, including buyer's premium. The Aston Martin V8 was produced from 1969 through 1990 and was, of course, powered by an eight-cylinder engine. For many years eager customers had been pleading with Aston Martin to produce an eight-cylinder car. Expected to be completed by 1967, the engine took a few more years of development before being ready. In the mean-time, Aston Martin introduced the DBS which borrowed its Vantage six-cylinder engine from the DB6. In the 1987 film 'The Living Daylights', famous British Secret Agent James Bond could be seen on the big screen driving around in his V8 Vantage Volante. A few years earlier Roger Moore had driven a DBS V8 in the movie 'The Persuaders.' His car was built to resemble the V8 version but actually powered by a six-cylinder engine. In 1969 the eight-cylinder engine was ready and successfully adapted to the DBS. The engine had been designed by Aston Martin's head engineer, Tadek Marek. The engine had made an appearance in the Lola T70 LeMans racer but was more of learning and testing experience than a true success. The DBS was now available with either the six- or eight-cylinder engine, with the eight-cylinder version being the more popular. Over the years the 5.3 liter V8 used fitted with either Bosch fuel injection or carburetors, double overhead camshafts and was capable of producing around 300-315 horsepower. Zero-to-sixty took a mere 5.9 seconds with top speed being achieved at 160 mph. The square-grille, four headlights, and large front air dam was the traditional Aston Martin persona. Gone were the wire wheels. By 1972 the DBS V8 became the Aston Martin V8; since the six-cylinder DBS was no longer offered. This left the V8 and the Vantage as Aston Martins entire model line. In 1972 Aston Martin offered the Series II which incorporated minor visual and mechanical changes. The front featured a mesh grille with twin quart headlights while under the hood the engine was given a little extra tuning. Production of the Series II continued until 1973 with just over 285 examples being produced. After the Series II came the Series III which incorporated four twin-choke Weber carburetors and a larger hood scoop. The 310 horsepower engine took the car from zero-to-sixty in 5.7 seconds, when equipped with the manual transmission. Soon strict emission and government regulations sent the performance tumbling. A new exhaust and camshaft helped boost power a little but was still down by about 10 horsepower. The Series III continued production from 1973 through 1978 except for 1975 when production was temporarily halted. In total over 965 examples were produced. Production had ceased in 1975 due to financial difficulties. A take-over from a consortium in 1975 meant the company could continue producing vehicles. It was decided that instead of creating new models which often consumes large amounts of capital, the company would focus their attention and abilities on fine-tuning the products already in production. At the Birmingham International Motor Show in 1978, Aston Martin introduced the Series IV, also known as the 'Oscar India.' 1982 Aston Martin V8 Volante
Aston Martin V8 Volante automatic transmission with new engine redone in the Vantage specifications with a cubic capacity of 6 litres. This V540 Cabriolet was delivered new to the USA and subsequently imported to Germany. The current owner bought it from the previous German owner, a pensioner who only used his Aston Martin to drive to the Golf course. The current owner, used to Italian sports cars with superior performance, wasn’t satisfied with the performance and therefore made the decision to have the engine entirely redone by a renowned specialist in the South-west of France. The goal was to obtain an engine performance comparable or superior to the Vantage version and this was surpassed: the estimated power in the present configuration is 400 BHP. The engine was re-bored to 6 litres, new pistons, valves, distributor head bushing etc. The carburettors are new as is the exhaust manifold, the brakes, the steering rack and the tires. The automatic gearbox was revised entirely and adapted to the new engine performance in the UK. Invoices totalling over 25,000 Euros for the mechanical work are available. The car is still being run-in with only 700 km covered since completion of the engine work. Consequently the mechanics are perfect and the cosmetic condition of the car is good. There are no visible traces of corrosion, and we noticed no faults except for a minuscule scratch on the left rear wing. The chromes are also in very good condition. The Vantage BBS rims are new, and a POW front spoiler was fitted. The interior is in a good state of conservation. The carpets deserve a complete cleaning and the leather only needs an appropriate treatment to regain their lustre. The woodwork is very nice. This is a superb car with a performance superior to the original Vantage. The stainless steel exhaust has a great sound and it is sensational to profit from the marriage of such performance with the legendary comfort of the Aston Martin.
