Cornwall: Joey Ladouceur wins the Mohawk Race Parts Pro-Stock Series Race

CORNWALL, ON - Martin Bélanger – The Pro-Stock category had the spotlight with the presentation of the first race in the Mohawk Race Parts Pro-Stock Series with a 50-lap event, the Modified, Sportsman and Mini-Stock shared the racing card on Alexandria Home Hardware Night at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Stéphane Lebrun and Dion Oakes were sitting on the front row of a 22-car starting field in the 50-lap Mohawk Race Parts Pro-Stock Series feature race. Lebrun took the lead with a 4-wide racing start as Oakes passed him while Godard did the same. Godard used the inside lane to pass Oakes for the lead with the first 5 laps done quickly. A good battle for second between Oakes and Ghislain Valade, the North Lancaster, Ontario driver, past Oakes for second while Joey Ladouceur was running in fourth, Ladouceur was able to pass Oakes for third as Ricky Thompson brought the yellow on lap 10.

Godard had company on the restart with Valade as Stéphane Lebrun stopped in turn 3 and caution came out on lap 12. Joey Ladouceur had a great jump on the green from his third starting spot and grabbed the lead as Ryan Stabler had a right rear flat tire and yellow was out on lap 14. Ladouceur led another lap as a few cars got together in turn 4 and the race was slowed down again with 15 laps in. Ladouceur still in front with some 4-wide racing in the back, Ladouceur was in cruise control in front with 30 laps to go. At the halfway point, Ladouceur was in front, Valade, Godard, George Renaud and Dion Oakes was the top 5. By lap 30, Ladouceur had a full stretch lead over Valade as Godard used a lap car to pass Valade and take the second spot.

David Papineau spun out and the race was slowed on lap 31.  Another lap was completed in the feature as Thunder Anderson stopped in the backstretch. Ladouceur in front with some position changes in the top 5 with Rock Aubin running strong in third and Corey Wheeler looking for the fifth spot as Louie Jackson also in the mix. Valade was running good on the top lane and gained back second on Godard as Wheeler jumps into third with 11 laps to go. Valade was getting close to Ladouceur with only 7 laps to go. The two cars were now side by side, Ladouceur, inside and Valade on the outside. Lap cars helped out Ladouceur as he pulled away from Valade with 2 laps to go. Ladouceur managed his lead and won the feature race over Valade, Wheeler, Renaud and Aubin completed the top 5.
