Royal Distributing-Bourque Polaris Race Report: Royal Distributing Pro Cup National Snowcross
The CSRA crew had outdone themselves this week, with a long, wide and crowd pleasing racetrack. The Innisfil facility was second to none, with great sightlines for the fans inside and out.
The Royal Polaris Team came ready to rock on Friday, and by the time everyone was out on the racetrack Friday night, it was apparent that the red Polaris’ of Dave Joanis and Lee Butler were here to win.
In Friday night’s heat action, #73 Lee Butler dominated under the lights with commanding victories, with Dave Joanis’ #115 claiming podium finishes. Lee also won the highlight Blair Morgan fundraiser race on Friday night.
The wins kept coming on Saturday for Lee as he put the Stock and Open sleds on top of the box all day.
In Pro Open, Lee won all 3 of his heats, and in Pro Stock, Lee brought his stock Polaris IQ home in first in three of four motos, with a second place in the fourth.
Dave had very strong moto results as well, coming home with some second and third place finishes also.
In Sunday’s finals Lee made sure he would be the one hoisting his sponsor’s trophy at the end of the day. In the 15 lap Pro Stock final, Lee rode hard and held off his teammate and Mike Vandolder for the win. Dave came from a midpack start to finish third, putting 2 Royal-Bourque Polaris’ on the podium.
In the 20 lap Open final Lee got the holeshot and led flag to flag, opening up a huge lead over the 2nd and 3rd place riders. Behind Lee, Joanis fought through some very fast riders to get to third place behind Vandolder. Dave chased down and passed into second place to bring home a 1-2 finish for the Royal Pro Cup!
Next up: Peterborough, ON for the second round of the Kawartha Cup.
