Matt Pritiko earn first career podium in Koni Challenge
TORONTO, ONTARIO - Matt Pritiko made the most of his return to the Compass360 Racing Team at the season opener of the 2009 Koni Challenge Series at Daytona in the Fresh from Florida 200. Pritiko, who qualified the #76 Compass360 Racing Honda Civic Si in sixth place, was able to move the car forward into second place.
"I was able to work my way up to second with some help from Christian Miller in the #74 compass360 Honda. We drafted on the tri-oval, then pitted to get Travis in the car."
Pritiko had done his job for the team well. He had kept the car in one piece and handed it over to his teammate to finish the job. Walker was able to lead for a while, but a late yellow bunched up the field and the duo finished third overall.
"That was a great race. We had a great start. There was a lot of teamwork going on with all the team cars up there. The car started to fall off a little at the end, and that's the way it goes. I've got to thank Travis for keeping it in there, and we're going to be back in Miami raring to go."
For Pritiko, it was his first podium in the Koni Challenge Series, but with the success at Daytona, Pritiko is already looking forward to round two.
"The whole Compass360 Racing team worked well together this weekend. The new Hondas are awesome, and now we are in good shape to challenge for the win in Miami," Pritiko said.
Next up for Pritiko and the Compass360 Racing Team is round two of the Koni Challenge Series at Homestead Miami on March 13-15.
