OSCAAR Super Late Models Return To Barrie Speedway On Fresh Asphalt

Action packed OSCAAR Super Late Model racing returns to Barrie Speedway this weekend on June 17. There is a new twist this year with the completion of track improvements and fresh asphalt on Tuesday June 13th. Last year was the first full racing season after a major upgrading to the track was completed in the fall of 2004. Recently, the speedway decided to tweak the track a bit more with hopes of even better racing in 2006.
The Outlaws got in a few heat races during their only visit of 2005: see Race Report. Rain was a major player that day and finally brought an end to the night's racing before the OSCAAR 50 lap feature. There was a great deal of anticipation about how the race would unfold as some of the Outlaws had challenges during heat races probably aggravated by the lack of practice sessions due to rain earlier in the day.

The weather looks like it will finally give us a break. Current forecasts are for sunny and warm weather on Saturday. OSCAAR drivers and teams are looking forward to getting some feature race action under their belts. For the drivers with strong aspirations on the 2006 championship, the rain cancellations from the first two events have simply peaked their drive to race and win!

John Fletcher, Ed Bowlby, Rob Clarke and Al Shepstone put their own emphasis on strong 2006 seasons after collecting the first heat race wins of 2006. Kawartha race action also saw strong performances by John Owen, Gary Passer, TJ Woolsey, Phil Bullen and Drew Spicer. Drivers were happy with the 2006 change to soft tires on both sides of the car. The only cautions during heat races came from cars with mechanical breakdowns. Teams with car problems were a bit relieved by the rained out feature at Kawartha and can now look forward to getting back on track at Barrie.

Thank you to all OSCAAR fans for your patience and support as we try to get the 2006 season under way. We look forward to seeing you at Barrie on Saturday!
