Novitec Treats Maserati Quattroporte with 590HP Supercharged V8

When Porsche's designers were trying to make a five-door liftback out of the Beetle, Maserati already had one of best looking proposals in the sports saloon segment; the Quattroporte. And while neither the 430HP Quattroporte S or its 440HP Sport GT S brethren are underpowered, the German tuner of all things Italian, Novitec, has come up with a package of upgrades for both versions of the saloon, including a significant power bump and some styling enhancements.

Starting with the engine bay, Novitec strapped on a supercharger along with a new water-to-air intercooler to the Quattroporte's 4.7-liter V8.

Other modifications include a new intake manifold and larger fuel injectors, while a recalibrated ECU takes care of the electronics. In both the Quattroporte S and Sport GT S, these changes help lift output to 590HP at 7,300 rpm, while torque grows from 490Nm to 572Nm / 421.9 lb-ft.

As a result, the Italian four-door saloon accelerates from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.6 seconds, an improvement of 0.5 seconds over the Sport GT S and 0.8 seconds over the S model. Novitec's 590HP Quattroporte can sprint to 200km/h (124mph) in just 14.9 seconds while the car's new top speed is 295km/h (183mph).

To improve handling, the tuner equipped the Quattroporte with a new electronically-controlled sport suspension that is continuously height-adjustable and features multiple settings for compression and rebound. In addition, the car rides on a set of three-piece 21-inch alloy wheels with five double spokes mounted on Pirelli P Zero high-performance tires in size 255/30 ZR 21 up front and 295/30 ZR 21 at the back.

A discreet boot lid spoiler made from clear-coated carbon fiber completes the package, though customers can also choose from a variety of options for the interior including special leather or Alcantara trim, and multimedia systems.

Novitec Rosso Does the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti

German tuning company Novitec Rosso has no problem whatsoever about putting its own mark on Ferrari's supercars. Its most recent offering is a new customization package with performance and cosmetic upgrades for Maranello's 612 Scaglietti.

The cornerstone of Novitec Rosso's program for the 2+2 seat grand tourer are a power increase and an even sportier exhaust note. The Ferrari's 5.7-liter V12 engine gets revamped electronics and a custom stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with four 90mm tail pipes resulting in a boost in output to 565HP at 7,290 rpm and 609Nm or 449.2 lb-ft of peak torque.

Novitec Rosso says 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration takes less 3.9 seconds, with top speed nudged to more than 325 km/h (202mph+).

The package also includes new 20-inch alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero 275/30 ZR20 tires at the front and 21-inch rims shod in 355/25 R 21 P-Zero rubber at the back.

The Italian supercar's looks can be further enhanced with a black lamp set that comprises the four round taillights, the reflectors and the side markers, while interior upgrades include a variety of flat-bottom steering wheels, tailor made seats and leather trims.

Novitec Tunes Ferrari's California and Creates a Sleeper, if That's Even Possible

Novitec's take on Ferrari's California goes something like this: one 4.3 liter V8 boosted by a supercharger system that ends up pumping output to 606 horsepower. That's a 166 horsepower increase thanks to a boost pressure of 0.4 bar, making the Novitec California good for a 60 mph sprint in 3.8 seconds.

Top speed comes in at 325 km/h or 202 mph, while torque grows from 485 Nm (358 lb-ft) to 603 Nm / 445 lb-ft.

The entire supercharger system includes a crank-driven supercharger, water-to-air intercooler, bigger injectors, and a unique intake manifold, while Novitec's own stainless steel exhaust system is enhanced with a butterfly mechanism similar to edo's DBS and myriad other offerings throughout the exotic car market.

This allows owners to tune the exhaust note, from calm and burble-y when pulling up to the valet to raucous and rowdy when braking up a wedding Graduate-style.

The body gets what Novitec calls a "designer suit" in the form of some (optional carbon fiber) highlights around its edges, like a chin spoiler, rocker panels, rear lip spoiler, and rear diffuser.

Novitec also offers an upgraded suspension setup for the California which lowers the car by 35 mm, while a button-operated hydraulic lift system is available for tackling speed bumps and the like. It raises the front end by 40 mm and then goes back down either when the button is pressed, or when the car hits 80 km/h.

The NF3 rims on the floor model are 21 inches and 22 inches, front to back, and come wrapped in Pirellis. As for me personally, I'm no fan of the California's creases and plump rear end, so I'd have to pass on the whole package entirely or make a serious investment and have this puppy taken over to a coachbuilder for some new digs, designer suit or not.
