Saskatoon, SK (August 5, 2010) NASCAR driver Pierre Bourque was looking to improve upon his finish from last season in the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Dodge at Auto Clearing Speedway during round number seven of the Canadian NASAR series. While Bourque did achieve that goal there were still some frustrations and felt that they could have done better.
The #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Dodge team worked hard during practice to improve the car and Bourque felt as if they were making progress. Sadly they were disappointed with their qualifying performance and forced to start at the back of the field. “We didn’t show what we’re capable of on the qualifying lap but I knew we would improve during the race” said Bourque.
That’s exactly what happened as Pierre Bourque moved the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Dodge forward several positions even before the race had reached lap 10. “The car came to us right away and was terrific” said the driver. “I’m always aggressive on the starts and was able to take some positions right away” he added.
During an extended green flag run Bourque would fall off the lead lap but used the circumstances to his advantage. “I hate it that some of the leaders went by me but you do learn from following them. You go to school and learn a lot and with every lap I did and we were able to gain more positions in the race” he stated.
As the race moved on Bourque would look for every opportunity to improve the position of the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Dodge and would wind up gaining five positions during the event. “I think we’ve shown good improvement as the year has gone on” said the driver. “They’re great people to work with here at DJK Racing and I’m pleased with how we’ve come together.
Though they have endured a steep learning curve at times on the oval track events the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine Dodge team finds themselves in an enviable position. “After seven races we’re inside the top-ten overall and headed back to a couple of road course events this month. We’ll definitely have the opportunity to move up as we head to Trois Rivieres next” he added.
