TORONTO, ON - Scott Steckly driver of the No. 22 Racing/Canadian Tire/Jumpstart Dodge ran in to trouble just after the half way point of the Jumpstart 100 Saturday in Toronto and fell to the back of the pack. The driver of the No. 22 Dodge didn’t give up and managed to fight his way back towards the front to cross the finish line in 11th.
Steckly was in the top ten in practice, posting the eighth quickest time, but slipped two positions to tenth in qualifying.
The driver of the Canadian Tire Dodge struggled a bit in practice. “The car wasn’t as fast as we had hoped, said Steckly, and scraping the wall during qualifying didn’t help” he added.
Steckly said just before the race, he just needed to be patient and work his way to the front. “The race can’t be won in the first few laps, but it can definitely be lost.”
Steckly would take the green flag for the inaugural visit at the Toronto Honda Indy from tenth place on the outside of row five. The 1.765-mile temporary course at Toronto’s Exhibition Place was difficult place to pass and so Steckly ran just outside the top ten in 11th place for most of the race.
Steckly was in 11th place just after the half way mark and when he got spun out on lap 21. Steckly managed to hang onto the car and stay on the track, but the No. 22 Canadian Tire Dodge had slipped deep in the field. Steckly wasn’t prepared to give up; he would use all his skills and fought right to the checkered flag to gain every position possible. When checkered flag fell Steckly had over taken 12 cars to finish in 11th place.
Steckly donned a new paint scheme for the Jumpstart 100 and will showcase this car again in Edmonton on July 25th where he hopes to move up in the points. Steckly is currently fourth in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series point standings.

Next up for the 22 Racing Team will be the temporary road course at the Edmonton City Centre Airport, where Steckly finished on the podium in 2009.
