Brockville Ontario Speedway Opener Saturday Night

BROCKVILLE, ONT - Spring has finally officially reached the Beast of the East. Brockville Ontario Speedway opens for another great season of competition on Saturday night, May 16th at 7pm. A few cars got to hit the track last Saturday afternoon for a practice session before the rains came, while a number of local drivers have been busy racing south of the border for over a month now trying to get out of the gate strong in 2009.

Danny O'Brien returns to defend another track championship in the 358 Modified division. O'Brien is well equipped with new equipment and a new sponsor as he tries to hold off the likes of Todd Stewart, Bryan Rogers and Bobby Herrington. Off season departures have left the Sportsman division wide open as teenagers Matt Billings, Shane Pecore and Dylan Evoy gear up to go head to head with veteran pilots Randy Earl and Randy Gaudet.

The Street Stocks also get very interesting after the demise of the trusty Nova of Billy Code in the final event of 2008, will Code be able to come back and defeat defending champ Steve Billings this time around. The wild and wacky Rookie class always provides some great entertainment with Steve Barber and Matt Bond among those trying to finally make their mark against the always powerful Jimmy Johnson inspired 20 of Josh Kane.

This Saturday night's program is presented by Mulder's Machine and Welding with gates opening at 5pm and the first heat rolling off at 7pm. Go kart fans will need to just a bit longer as their practice night is set for May 20th, with the first race set for the following Wednesday, May 27th.
