Thorold, Ontario (April 30) Kendrick Racing made quite an impression last season for new sponsor Global Warranty Corporation in fielding a three car effort with team-mates Todd Kendrick, Tim Jones and Scott George – all three drivers competing in the L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modified Division at Merrittville Speedway.

When Global Warranty Corporation presents Canadian Tire Financial Services Night at the Races Saturday May 9th – the 2009 Team Kendrick will be reunited with three cars in the headline division.
A chance get together between the team’s Todd Kendrick and Danny O’Brien led to the Kingston native driving the team’s #55 to a second place finish last season in the 100 lap Baron Roofing 358 Modified Super DIRTcar Series Opener at the Thorold track.
O’Brien was in the pits once again for April 25th’s rain-delayed event – but he was in the team’s 7Star Bicknell Chassied car that he is preparing to campaign on a weekly basis when the Brockville Speedway opens later in May.
“Everything started with a run in April at Merrittville. I had a guaranteed starting spot, but my engine wasn’t back from being freshened. I put in a call to Randy Williamson from Bicknell Racing Products to see if he could hook me up with a ride,” says O’Brien. “He said he’d spoken to the Kendrick guys and they’d put me in their 3rd car, so I hopped in the truck and headed for the speedway.
"I didn’t have any idea what the car looked like or even what number it was. I just figured I’d drive around the pits until someone called me over. The last minute plan turned-out to be a great 2nd place run. We stayed in touch throughout the year, talked a lot and became good friends. Now we’ve put together a deal.”
O’Brien is hoping to defend his 3 consecutive track titles at Brockville with the help of the new program in 2009 as well as to improve upon his second place finish in the Mr. DIRTcar 358 modified championship series the last two seasons.
Last season saw Sanborn, NY native Tim Jones reunite with the family-owned Kendrick Race Team and Jones ran to one victory with his Global Warranty 15J. In 2009, Jones will be looking to add to the feature win column although with a new number – 5Star.
Todd Kendrick – with a win under his belt a few seasons ago in the Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lite Division will be looking to improve in his sophomore season as a 358 Modified Driver.
Before the Team Kendrick Drivers take to the track along with competitors from each of the 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions – Merrittville Speedway will extend a Happy Mother’s Day to all Moms with a $2 Discount on Grandstand Admission.
When the gates open at 5:30 – Moms will get in for $8.
With Canadian Tire Financial Services Employees also in the Grandstands – the second point events in the 2009 Championship Chase will take to the track for the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks, Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lites, Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders and the 358 Modifieds.
