Thorold, Ontario (April 13) – In just 5 days, Merrittville Speedway’s 2009 Season will come to life as drivers from all 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions and possibly others will take to the track for Test ‘n Tune Night – Saturday April 18th.
“We just came off two days of the BRP Driving School … and an additional practice session,” reveals (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell, “the track was in excellent shape with all the laps that were put in … times both days were within top times.”
The evening session set for Saturday April 18th may be one of the most important practices ever – with three divisions in big events right off the start – the following week.
Recognized as the traditional start of the Stock Car racing season in Southern Ontario, Merrittville Speedway will once again be featuring the L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modifieds who will be put right to the test Saturday April 25th with the 2nd Annual Spring Sizzler featuring a 100 lap Super DIRTcar Series Event in addition to a 25 lap Stars North Mod Lite Tour Event for the Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lites and the Hoosier Stocks.
Grandstand and Pit gates will open at 5:00 pm with practice starting at 6:00 PM April 18th. Pit admission will be $20. Fans are welcome to view practice and get a glimpse of the new cars. Grandstand Admission is free.
With the 2009 racing schedule looking to be the most exciting and varied schedule run to date at the historic racing facility – drivers and crews from the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinders, Hoosier Stocks, Modern Corporation Open Wheel Lites, Original Pizza Logs Sportsman and L. St. Amand Enterprises 358 Modifieds will want to take advantage of the shake down session.
The same goes for drivers and crews that are expected to visit during special events including the BRP Can Am Late Models and Sprint Cars with both the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints and Lucas Oil ASCS Patriot Sprints on the new schedule.
